The only kids I will have

I grew up as a cat person. We attempted to have dogs but my parents always got rid of them. Either they dug up the yard, cost to much to feed, or we were moving somewhere that did not allow dogs. Anyone and everyone who has ever had a pet know that each one has its own individual personality. Something about them that makes them different from all the others. I have three cats and they each have their own routines and quarks. I decided it would be fun to blog them and tell you things about them.
First is my cat Axl
He is about 12 years old all black with gold eyes. In direct sunlight you can make out brown stripes. He got his name from my husbands favorite band, Guns N Roses. When my husband and I first moved in together I was working as a mall walker/surveyor. In the mall was a pet store. There was this kitten in the window that looked like a ball of black fur with gold eyes. Every day I would walk by. Sometimes they would let me take him out and hold him. Well one night after Jerry had come home I asked him if we could get a kitten. He said yes IF he could get a snake. Well I was not interested in snakes but as long as I didn't have to touch it I was fine. We drove to the pet store and I immediatly grabbed my kitten. My husband went and looked at snakes. In this little cage were two baby red tail boas. One was curled up in the back the other was striking the cage. Well I was not fond of having a violent snake so we purchased the docile one. After buying all the accessories we headed home. Well his snake did not last long. It died 2 weeks later. We moved from that apartment to his grandmothers, into another apartment, back to grandmas, then into our house. During all those places of residence we had acquired other cats that did not do well with us. One that would not shut up. One that pissed and shit on our bed. Two that we had stolen from his grandmothers house. Now Axl is a mamas boy. He gets really lovey with me frequently. He loves me so much that he has a fascination with my flip flops. Maybe he is just jealous they are almost as old as he is. I have been wearing them for 8 years. When I have been running around in them all day he likes to rape them. I will come home and kick them off. Roughly an hour later I will find him laying on the floor, on top of them, rubbing his face all over them. Then he will lay on his side with the shoe between his legs pressed up against him and kick and bite the shit out of them . This will last awhile. Then he will get up and run through the house like someone is chasing him. At night when we go to bed he will lay wherever my hands are. Usually I am spooning my husband and my hand is wrapped around him. Well Axl will lay up against Jerrys chest so that my hands comes down on top of him to get pet. If I turn over he will leave my husband walk across the top of the pillows and attempt to lay beside me. Well there is hardly ever room so he ends up above my head. My hand that is coming out from under the pillow pets him. It is funny in the middle of night. I will be cuddling up behind my husband and our youngest cat Bengy is laying there. Well my hand is on him. Axl will scream about it. Which makes me turn over and he comes to my pillow. Not many places sell them anymore but those half boxes that would have the 12 cans of soda in? He likes to lay in them and be shuffle boarded down the hall. He will also sit in the tub wanting us to turn on the tub so he can have a drink of water. He will not go to the toilet or the sink. This is like a daily routine. Can we say spoiled. He even has his own private chair
.
My other cat, Mystyk, is about 6 years old. We acquired him as a playmate for Axl. I had been looking for an adult cat that could hold his own against him. I was walking back from the mailbox when my neighbors on the south side of us asked me if I wanted a cat. I started to ask her questions but she said it was a friend of hers and got her on the phone. I decided to give the cat a try. I explained to the owner that he had one week. If my cat could not adjust to him then she would be getting him back. They explained to me that it was her daughters cat and that her own cat hated him. His name was Dum Dum. Within 3 days he had won us over and got a name change. Since his past was a mystery to us we named him Mystyk. His look is interesting. He is long haired, exceptionally fluffy on the tail, chest and neck. Doing some research we found he looked like a Main Coon cat.
They are wild cats out of main. They have the long hair to protect them from the snow and underbrush. Everyone who sees him agrees that that is definitely his breed. He has a quark that I have never seen before. When he is drinking water he uses his paw. He will dip it in the water then lick his paw. After awhile he will lean down and drink it like normal. Is like he is testing the quality first. But that is not the only water he likes.... there is something about a foot spa that makes him crazy . He has this thing about laying on me, and tapping me when I am watching tv or asleep on the floor. He won't bug my husband at all. Mystyk knows that his place to sleep is in the cat bed on the nightstand beside my head. Sometimes when he takes forever to come to bed Axl will climb in their and then Mystyk will sleep above my head. He takes up ALOT of pillow.

My youngest Bengy was an unplanned kitty. He is 2 years old and has spots. Even on his belly . When we go out to have a smoke Axl and Mystyk go with us. They are each bound to a leash that is tethered to our chair. They do not get much roaming room but enough so they can mow they neighbors yard. Well one night they both became extremely interested in a bush near us. Usually when they act like that we will put them inside, because it is usually another animal. Which is what we did. As we investigated we found a kitten with a HUGE head and really skinny. Now I know your not supposed to feed stray cats but I can't let him starve. I brought it food and some water out and he just about inhailed it. Later finding out that is just how he eats
. We went inside leaving him out there. Both of our cats bounced back and forth from the 2 windows checking out the kitten. Every time we went out he was there. Jerry said that if he was there Wednesday then he could stay. It has now been two years. He experiences stranger danger, and is extremely HUGE. He finally grew into his head thankfully. He sleeps next to my husband mostly. If Axl gets there first then he waits til he leaves and conquers the spot. He sits at the bottom of the bed with the fan on high blowing in his face
. He is a constant ham and demands belly rubs on a regular basis. Look at the second picture of him again to see the proof in that. If you touch the food container he will run from wherever he is to eat the first fresh morsal. "Caution people standing in hall way will be ran over".

All three of our cats never get bathed. Hell we don't even brush them but they always look groomed. They take very good care of themselves. Two out of three of them are long haired. When we watch tv every cat has his own specific place to lay. Axl lays on the corner of the couch farthest from us. Mystyk lays on the loveseat near my feet. Bengy lays on the arm of the couch and love seat. They never lay together anywhere. Bengy and Mystyk get along really well . Axl and everyone else don't. Mostly all you hear from him are his screams as the cats chase him around the house. This is the closest you will see him with any of them . He won't even share a bowl of food with anyone he will be the last one to eat to avoid eating out of the same bowl. Now that is a different story with the grey brothers . So these are our kids. I was trying to get pictures of them doing their odd quarks, but everytime I whip out the camera they stop or they do it when I don't have a camera. Figures.... thats a kid for ya.
We did get an interesting picture one night while taking a snap of our two youngest ones. The third set of eyes in the back is not our oldest one Axl... after freaking us out for 30 seconds we realized it was the lamp to the snake cage behind them. WHEW!!!!!
