24 hours?

AH a day like the show for my husband... he was in heaven/hell.

Twas the night before Superbowl and all through a house all the creatures were stirring......

Wait wait it was 2 nights bef0re the Superbowl. Oh well it sounded cute when I started.

Anyways... My husband works from noon to 9 on the weekdays. This week was his on call week. That means from 9pm to 5am he can get called back into work. So it was Friday and he had gotten to leave work early. I fixed him something to eat like I do every day. There was a scheduled emergency maintenance to do at midnight so our time was limited. We watched a few shows that we prerecorded and he left at 11pm to go back to work. At noon, Saturday, he left work yet again. He had not even come home. He was at work the whole time. But, instead of going home when he got off work and going to sleep he upheld his promise to a friend and went to his house.

Robert is an up and coming director. He is involved in film festivals and submits every year. Though he has not won. This particular one, sponsored by the phoenix film festival, was a 24 hour deal( I guess there are 48 and 36 hour ones also). The requirements were it had to be made in 24 hours starting at 11am Saturday morning, that days newspaper had to be somewhere in the short, it can only be 3 minutes, and the line "Who is that guy"? had to be in the short also. Easy enough.. nope!

My husband arrived at his house around 1pm. His promise being he would be there for as long as he could stay awake. Jerry is accustomed to being up for 24+ hours because of his reptiles hobby. So he could go for the full thing. They immediately went to work on their entry. In the beginning my girlfriend Devon was the star of the show. They covered her in blood and had her lay in the desert. (Where she got eaten by ants and ruined her clothes from the blood). By mid day they trashed this idea and went a completely different direction. Now my husband was the star.

I am sure someone is wondering where I am. I am at work I get off at 3pm. My agenda was to get him some food, and energy drinks. I was also going to attempt in the film making. When I arrived I quickly assumed I was of no use here. After saying my farewells, and having one last smoke with my husband, Devon decided she was no longer needed and came home with me. I got booze and dominoes at my house.

When we left her house everything was up, and the scenes were fabulous, the makeup artist was still working on her victim. Devon and I stopped at quick trip and bought snacks. At my house I whipped out my dominoes and the booze. She and I never opened the dang things instead we went into my bedroom and she took head shots of me for hubbies Valentines day gift, it took us hours. We were also waiting for the men to come home. Mine so he can go into a coma and hers so he could make sure my husband got home safely and pick up his woman. Well instead he sent his sister to come and get her. Was not a jovial ride home. She texted me the whole way saying she wished she was at least tipsy to made the ride more pleasant.

Robert stayed up late making final adjustments on the film. I called the next day to make sure it was submitted on time. He had, had, his sister turn it in. Cut off time was 11am.

Well the days rolled by. Finally on January 12th we all got to see it on the big screen. There were 23 entries. Four had been eliminated because they turned it in to0 late. There were only maybe 5 that were memorable. The rest either had terrible acting, stupid story, or bad everything. Only two portrayed real acting/emotion, two used kids, but only one was cute, and one use cigarette puppets. Surprisingly entertaining. At the end of the showing they announced 5 films that were chosen to go to the next festival. Some of them did not deserve it. Unfortunately we did not win. As everyone was walking out of the theater they were each handed a piece of paper that had the remaining films on it. People were to vote for one that would be the audience choice winner. It would also advance to the next level. Everyone was invited to sit at this buffalo wings place next to the theater while they tallied the votes.

We all sat there and discussed the other videos. Ok more like griped. Allot of people approached us remarking on the video. I took pictures of everyone together, and broke them into groups. Finally the guy stood up to announce the winner. In my mind, I think we should have won. We had awesome acting and a great makeup artist. We even had superb editing and directing. Well the guy announced that "The Silent Treatment" had won the audience vote. That was our video. The whole place screamed in satisfaction. I looked at Robert and he was just standing there. I actually had to shove him towards his award. People at our table were kinda dumb struck. I ran after him taking pictures. Everyone was exstatic. He came back with the award and I couldn't help taking a picture of everyone with the award. I don't know who was more excited about it our group or everyone else. We talked about it the whole drive home and during dinner. It was so cool.

The next day Robert was still talking about it. He couldn't believe it. Neither could the rest of us. It was his first festival win. I hopefully not his last.
